Important Information for Summer 2016
All meets must use a 45-minute window before cancellation. For practices, we will email and leave a message on the TCC pool phone (764-7720) if we need to cancel due to weather. When the Club's warning goes off, we must clear the pool until the "All Clear" warning. Some age groups may have practice while others may be cancelled.
Swim practice will be cancelled if the air temperature is 59 degrees or colder.
Speed is definitely not a requirement but safety is. A child needs to be independent in the water and able to swim freestyle the entire length of the pool. Swim team should NOT be substituted for swim lessons. If questionable, coaches will evaluate swimmers on a date to be determined.
What are the age groups?
A swimmer’s age as of June 1st of the current season will determine his/her age group for the entire season. Age groups are separated by girls and boys: 6 & under, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, and 15 to 18.
It is strongly recommended that all swimmers attend as many practices as possible. A swimmer’s improvement is directly related to the amount he/she practices.
How long is the season?
Pre-season evening practice starts May 19 through June 5. Morning practice starts Fri., June 6. Swim meets are generally on Monday evenings with the last meet scheduled on Mon., July 7. A Prelim meet will be held Wed., July 9 with qualifying swimmers advancing to Championships on Mon., July 14 at The Ohio State University Natatorium. The season will conclude with an awards ceremony and pool party on Wed., July 16.
Is there a fee to join?
Yes, there is a $127 per participant fee to join swim team or dive team, $145 to join both swim and dive team. This includes a $25 non refundable registration fee. The cost will be billed to TCC member accounts. The cost covers a swim cap, coaches’ salaries and end of season gift, ribbons, social activities and trophies/ awards for Marlins awards ceremony.
